Soak up Oman’s Spectacular Scenery at The View Hotel

Rated 4.7/5 Unmissable Factor

The View Hotel is nestled on a rocky slope of Oman’s Jebel Shams mountain. Hidden luxury finds new meaning here. The clue is in the name: the view is jaw-dropping. And you can look at it all day long from this eco-luxe retreat, without even leaving your room.

You have to take a 4×4 to reach The View from the bottom of the mountain. If nothing else, this guarantees that your holiday gets off to the most Getting Away From It All™ start possible. Not to worry though, you won’t have to navigate the winding roads with your airplane-groggy brain. Your professional driver will pick you up from the airport.

The View isn’t one big hotel – it’s a series of 30 pods. Each contains a luxury bedroom and bathroom. Superior rooms have partial views of the valley. And Front-row Premier rooms are more spacious with uninterrupted, panoramic views of the magnificent landscape. The pods cling to the ridge of the mountain. And they all have balconies so you can sit outside all day and just stare at your surroundings. A word of warning, you may find yourself having deep and meaningful thoughts about how great nature is.

In spite of its remote location, the hotel is the perfect base for exploring. Strap on a helmet and go mountain biking or hiking around Jebel Shams, or visit some of the nearby sights, like Nizwa fort and souq and Al Hamra village.

Fair warning though, once you see the infinity pool, all thoughts of exploring might vanish. Why go out, when you can just do your sightseeing from the edge of the pool?

Did we mention the restaurant? It is perched on top of the Jebel Shams’ canyon. From here, you can enjoy splendid views across the valley below. You can get all your meals and snacks right here. Of course, this is super handy in case you decide that there’s no better place than right where you are. Important point to remember: The View does not have a licence to sell alcohol, so there’s no bar. However, you can bring your own refreshments. But please be discreet about drinking and keep in mind during Ramadan not to drink anywhere except in your room.

Sometimes an Unmissable experience is just about getting away from it all. If a week of relaxation, good food, a bit of exploring and a lot of incredible scenery is what you’re after, this is the place for you. In fact, a week might not even be long enough, you’ll want to wake up to that view every single day.

Another key point is to get your paperwork sorted well before your trip. While you shouldn’t have any issues travelling in Oman, sometimes it can take a couple of weeks to get it arranged.
